Free Crochet Dog Hat
Today we are giving you a free crochet dog hat. Our dog might not keep it on long because she is crazy but hopefully your dog will. This is more of an intermediate crochet pattern.

- 5mm Crochet Hook
- About 1 skein Red Heart Super Saver Yarn; Medium 4 Worsted
- Stitch Marker

Approximately 11 hdc = 4 inches.
Approximately 7 rows = 4 inches.
Finding Your Dog’s Size

Measure around your dogs head(under the ears). The dog pictured measures approximately 24 inches around. Each ear measures approx. 5 inches wide

Row 1:
Ch 57. Sl st in first ch to join, forming a large ring (be careful not to twist the chain).
Ch 3. Do not turn.
Dc in each ch around. (56 dc)
Sl st in top of beginning ch-3 to join.
Piece should stretch to approximately 24 inches.
Rows 2–4:
Ch 2. Do not turn.
Fpdc around each post around. (56 sts)
Sl st to top of beginning ch-2 to join.
Row 5:
Ch 2. Do not turn.
Hdc in next 8 sts.
Ch 12, skip next 12 sts (first ear hole made).
Hdc in next 16 sts.
Ch 12, skip next 12 sts (second ear hole made).
Hdc in last 8 sts.
Sl st to top of beginning ch-2 to join.
Row 6:
Ch 1. Do not turn.
Sc in next st (place marker).
Sc in each st and ch around.
Hdc in beginning sc to join (move marker).
Row 7:
Hdc in next 9 sts, hdc next 2 sts together.
Repeat from * to * around.
Hdc in remaining sts if needed.
Sl st to join.
Row 8:
Hdc in next 8 sts, hdc next 2 sts together.
Repeat from * to * around.
Hdc in remaining sts if needed.
Sl st to join.
Row 9:
Hdc in next 7 sts, hdc next 2 sts together.
Repeat from * to * around.
Hdc in remaining sts if needed.

Fasten off and weave in ends.
Pom Pom Instructions
Make a 4 inch Pom Pom , and Attach it to the top of the hat. Using the longer string you tied the pom pom with, and a needle. Here is a video to walk you through the steps
Draw the ends through the top of hat from outside to inside. Knot and weave in ends on inside of your free crochet dog hat.
