Small Crochet Dinosaur

This Small Crochet dinosaur was originally created by Cotton Nutty, but they are no longer on the internet. Our team created a couple of versions of the dinosaur. You can do a two toned dino or solid color.

Notes:

  • When working in rounds work continuously unless the instructions say otherwise.
  • For assembly utilize seamless joining method to make the toy look neater.
  • At the end of each row, in brackets, she included a number which represents the total number of stitches in a given row. It should help tracking if instructions are followed

Finish off and make sure and leave long tail for sewing. Stuff the body and use a tapestry needle to sew up the bottom.

Feet (Make 2)


Using the same yarn color as the head and body, make 2 feet. Please note: both feet are worked the same through Row 6. After that, the pattern will differ for each foot (noted in the instructions below).

  • Row 2: 2 sc, 4 inc, 4 sc, inc, 1 sc (17)

  • Row 5: 22 sc (22)

Right Foot

  • Row 7: 4 sc, 4 dec, 4 sc (12), ch 1, turn
  • Row 8: 7 sc (7)

Left Foot

  • Row 7: 4 sc, 4 dec (8), ch 1, turn
  • Row 8: dec, 5 sc (6)

Stuff firmly, fasten off, and leave a long tail for sewing.

Belly

You can use a contrasting color for the bellies or use the same yarn.

  • Ch 11
  • Row 1: Starting in the 2nd chain from the hook, 10 sc (10), ch 1, turn
  • Row 2: Inc, 8 sc, inc (12), ch 1, turn
  • Row 3: Inc, 10 sc, inc (14), ch 1, turn
  • Rows 4–8: 14 sc (14), ch 1, turn
  • Row 9: Dec, 12 sc (13), ch 1, turn
  • Row 10: Dec, 11 sc (12), ch 1, turn
  • Row 11: Dec, 8 sc, dec (10), ch 1, turn
  • Row 12: Dec, 6 sc, dec (8), ch 1, turn
  • Row 13: Dec, 4 sc, dec (6), ch 1, turn
  • Row 14: Dec, 2 sc, dec (4), ch 1, turn

Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.

Crochet Dinosaur Arms (Make 2)

Using the same yarn color as the head and body, make 2 arms. Do not stuff.

  • 6 sc in magic ring (6)
  • Row 1: 3 inc, 3 sc (9)
  • Row 2: 2 sc, 3 inc, 4 sc (12)
  • Row 3: 5 sc, 2 inc, 5 sc (14)
  • Row 4: 5 sc, 3 dec, 3 sc (11)
  • Row 5: 2 sc, 3 dec, 3 sc (8)
  • Rows 6–7: 8 sc (8)
  • Row 8: 4 dec (4)

Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing. Fold the arm flat to create a scoop-like shape, then sew along the open edge to secure.

Spikes


You can again do a contrasting color for your spikes or do it the same as your dino.

  • Ch 2
  • Row 1: Starting in the 2nd chain from the hook, 1 sc (1), ch 1, turn
  • Row 2: Inc (2)

Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing.
